The release stated that the arrested man has been charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and was due to appear at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on August 25.
The release said Customs will continue to apply a risk assessment approach and focus on selecting passengers from "high-risk regions" for clearance to combat transnational drug trafficking activities.
The release stated that Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the maximum penalty for trafficking in a dangerous drug, upon conviction, is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
